Disposal of mines
and explosive ordnance

At present, many settlements in Ukraine have signs of contamination of the territory of the GNP and require demining measures. We are talking not only about the communities on the territory of which active hostilities were conducted or those that were deoccupied, but also the territories on which air and missile strikes were carried out.
As part of the implementation of the algorithm for the release of land, humanitarian demining contributes to the reduction of territories during technical surveys, the complete clearing of land plots by demining or clearing areas of hostilities. This stage is performed by mine action operators (regardless of ownership) under the supervision of the National Mine Action Authority.

    What are explosive objects?
    Explosive objects include explosive materials of industrial use and home-made manufacture, ammunition containing explosive substances (explosive substances), in particular:
    ● bombs and warheads;
    ● guided and ballistic missiles;
    ● artillery, mortar, rocket ammunition and ammunition for small arms;
    ● all mines, torpedoes and depth charges;
    ● pyrotechnic means;
    ● cluster bombs and cassettes;
    ● cartridge clips and pyrotechnic devices;
    ● electric explosive devices;
    ● improvised explosive devices and other items that are explosive in nature.

    After clearing the territory of explosive objects, the ammunition is disposed of. One of the most important stages is external quality control. A demined site cannot be handed over to the end user without an appropriate quality control inspection report. Representatives of the Ministry of Defense perform these functions in Ukraine.
    Each stage of demining must be based on IMAS international mine action standards and undergo verification.
